Confidentiality of the Census Data

All information provided by respondents during enumeration will be treated as confidential. Disclosure of information without lawful authorization shall be liable to a fine, or a term of imprisonment as spelt out in the Act 1993 (Act 1003).

To enforce confidentiality, all Census Functionaries shall, before entering upon their duty make and subscribe to an Oath of Secrecy as provided for, by the NPC Act

The Census data will be produced in aggregate form. That means NPC ensures personal details are protected and removed from any information used in its own work or that of other organizations including government agencies, academia, development partners and private sector users of Census data.
