It is required that enumerators will administer the census questionnaire on all persons living in the country. Respondents are to provide correct responses to the questions.

The Census Questionnaire is the primary tool for collecting socio demographic and housing data. For the 2023 PHC, the questions are divided into two categories;

1. Individual based questions
2. Household based questions

Individual based questions

• The questions will ask questions on basic social demographic information such as; age, sex, marital status among others from every person living in a regular household. Please note that the responses are treated as confidential.
• Similarly, this section will also be administered to the institutional households, floating population, and special population.
• These Individual Based Questions are grouped into ten thematic areas, with some not applicable to ALL persons in the households,
• The 2023 Population Housing Census questionnaire have been translated into the three main Nigerian languages and Pidgin English.

The individual based questions are specific to each member of the households and are to be answered personally except for reasons of underage or incapacity.

Household based questions

Questions in this section are meant to be answered by the head of household or any adult member of the household.
